Early Life and Education

Juliane Banse is a German soprano singer.

She spent her childhood in Zurich, where she started playing the violin at the age of five.

She studied ballet at the Zurich Opera and began learning singing there as well. She continued her vocal education with Brigitte Fassbender in Munich.

Rise to Fame

In 1989, Banse won first prize at a vocal competition in Munich. That same year, she made her debut at the Berlin Comic Opera, performing the role of Pamina in Mozart's "The Magic Flute." In 1993, she received the prestigious Franz Schubert Grand Prize, with the jury including Elizabeth Schwarzkopf and Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau.
